If you’re interested in the Google Summer of Code: the application phase is open. Submit your proposals now.

Some notes:

  • Make sure to pick an appropriate organization. We’ve received some requests at Debian that would fit much better to X.org or GNOME
  • Wrap your text to ~76 chars. Some of the proposals were a PITA to read because they had too long lines, and since the proposal is in a scrolling textbox I always have to scroll down to the end of the box, then scroll right, then scroll back up to the line I was just reading. (Yes, this is an UI issue with Google, but believe me, you’ll benefit from a well written and easy to read proposal, because more people are going to read through it and eventually rate you.

So far, I havn’t seen an application to any of my suggested projects (LaySVN, SELinux, Debtags AI Tagger, Debtags database). So if you’re interested, go for it!
