I’m back home, and trying to catch up with stuff that has happened while I was travelling. Maybe I’ll post some thoughts about the US later, too.

First: the london bombings. I didn’t really “miss” that they’ve happened, but I was in Yosemite by then and enjoyed that instead of listening/watching something I can’t influence anyway.

Now, with politicians trying to do “something”, I have to complain… Heck, it looks like the bombings were conducted by UK citicens that didn’t have a reputation as militants or police records.

There is no way, you can do anything against that by increasing the number of spy cameras on streets or so, unless you prohibit bags that big they could contain a bomb, and arrest anyone carrying such a “big” bag.

So please stop the bullshit of “increasing” security. You DO not increase security, you only increase spendings. The only way to prevent such bombings of occurring more often is to help the poor people in the foreign contries. As long as they envy or hate western contries, this will happen again.

Spy cameras on places with a high crame rate do make sense, I agree. But only if there are real policemen behind them. And you might only divert the crimes to happen at different, non-monitored places.

Why does the mass of people think that spying more on your own people can increase security? This is like making a law that suicide bombers are sent to prison for 20 years if caught after their bombing. It just doesn’t work.
